In today’s world, there are believers and unbelievers. Some believe that the earth and the universe are the work of an almighty God. Others do not believe in the reality of God. Some believe that Jesus Christ came into the world to save mankind from sin. Others do not believe in Jesus. Some believe in a definitive code of morality while others do not. Some believe that the Bible is an inspired book that has come from God while others do not believe in the Bible. Some believe in a life after death while others believe that death is the final end. Some believe that there are eternal places of residence for the righteous and for the wicked. Others do not. In today’s world, there are believers and unbelievers.
God has always been mindful of the believer and the unbeliever. And unto man has been given the right of choice. Man is neither a robot nor a puppet. We can choose either to believe or to disbelieve. God’s leader, Joshua, in the long ago gave the people the right to believe in God or an idol. Joshua 24:15. They could believe or disbelieve. But, either way, they would believe. They would believe in the eternal or the natural. To believe in one thing is to disbelieve another. We either believe in God or nature; morality or hedonism; life or death. To believe is to disbelieve; to disbelieve is to believe. It becomes a matter of what we choose to believe or disbelieve.
To believe in God, Jesus Christ, the Bible, and life after death is faith. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1. From time beginning, faith has prompted multitudes to accept the unseen. Society has shunned them; mockers have scoffed them; disbelievers have ridiculed them. And, in many instances a great price has been paid simply to believe. But, “without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing unto him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6. Men will seek to know genetics; men will seek to unravel the mysteries of the universe; men will seek to know the complexity of the human body. But, multitudes will not seek to know God. And, yet, God must be sought. The road of seeking is called faith. God is not found in a test tube; science labs cannot give us insight into His being; mathematical calculations cannot explain Him. If God be known, He must be known by faith.
One day known only by God believers and unbelievers will be called before the tribunal bar of God’s judgment. At that hour, all will become believers. The Bible teaches that “we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” Romans 14:10-11. Faith will become sight. Unbelief will become eternal tragedy. The road of faith leads to eternal bliss; the road of unbelief leads to everlasting ruin.
In today’s world, there are believers and unbelievers. “I believed, and therefore, have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore, speak.” II Corinthians 4:13
